How Author Started
Hello. Let me introduce myself. My name is Kimberly Kogut. I am a new indie author with a quirky twist on storytelling that will take you on unexpected adventures. When I am not diving into the worlds I create, I spend my days as a school bus driver—a gig I’ve been rocking for the past four years. Honestly, I love my job and cherish the chaos and charm it brings, but sometimes the craziness of the day-to-day spills over, and I need a break. That’s when writing swoops in like a superhero with a keyboard, offering me an escape into worlds where the only limit is my imagination. Writing isn’t just a hobby; it’s my secret getaway, my playground, and my sweet spot for turning life’s madness into magical stories.
Even as a schoolgirl, I was that kid clutching a notebook like it was a secret treasure map. I’d scribble stories in the margins of my day, weaving quirky characters and bizarre plots that left my teachers gobsmacked. They’d always stop me after class, eyes wide, wondering how such a tale could spill out of a kid so young. “Keep writing,” they’d say, “never give up.” It was like having a little cheer squad in the form of adults who actually believed I had something special.
Fast forward to now, and the scene hasn’t changed much—except the audience has, and the stakes feel a little higher. My friends are constantly poking me: “Have you written anything new? What’s going to happen next in your story?” I swear I hear that line more than “Hey, what’s up?” It’s oddly validating and somehow motivating at the same time.
Growing up, a notebook was an extension of my arm—always there, ready for a quick sketch of a kooky character or a jot of a crazy plot twist. Sometimes I'd sneak a peek through dog-eared books, hoping to snag a spark of inspiration for my next oddball idea. It was my way of cooking up worlds and monsters, magic and mayhem, all scrambled together with a dash of imagination and a pinch of rebellious whimsy.
Writing isn’t just a habit; it’s a quirky, relentless addiction. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
